IGNITION(COUSIN COLE REMIX): R. KELLY

Have you actually sat through all 21 chapters of 'Trapped In The Closet'? It's amazing. R. Kelly is so much better than Spike Lee or Tyler Perry. Check it out at the IFC website. Cousin Cole is also great. He remixes everything under the sun. Check out him and pocketknifes website: http://www.flagrantfowl.net/Home.html

HAWMPS

What an original premise. A cavalry outpost is needing fresh horses and they are promised a shipment of Arabians. What arrives? CAMELS!!! Hilarity ensues. Appearances by every actor from the 70s who's name you don't know.

BOOK OF THE WEEK: COUNT BELISARIUS by Robert Graves

If you like Roman history or just want to satisfy your inner D&D, LOTR geek, this is a great read. Its well researched historical fiction that takes place in the 6th century A.D. which is sort of Fall of the Roman Empire meets King Arthur times. Belisarius is an ass kicking strategist that pretty much single handedly takes back Africa, Italy and parts of the Middle East from Goths, Vandals, Huns and Persians for the Sissy Emporer of Rome (who now rules from Constantinople). Its funny, tragic, educational and the battles are fucking epic. Worth reading for the descriptions of the plague symptoms alone. I'm amazed that Hollywood hasn't tackled this yet. The politics of Rome are still so relevant. Also check out I, Claudius and Claudius the God.

ID ENGAGER (DJ SEGA REMIX): OF MONTREAL

.
I love DJ Sega. Not a big fan of this song...but I'm not a big fan of OF MONTREAL. maybe you'll enjoy it though. Check out the Rye rye mixtape Sega did with her....RYEOT POWRR!!!

BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE

This is a pretty good western but totally oddball. Sam Pekinpah directed, Jason Robards, Slim Pickens, Stella Stevens(how can you go wrong)...a desert, some lizards and a whore-and ain't nobody got the water except for Cable Hogue.....Its pretty much what Rango was ripped off from except not really like that at all. Oh yeah, and Stella Stevens got some sweet cleavage....

IF Y'ALL DON'T GIVE A FUCK: CROOKLYN CLAN

This is a banger to put on before you leave for a job you don't really enjoy. Its got a kinda 'take this job and shove it' vibe. Its also great at a house party when some people are starting to crash but you and the other badasses are refusing to go out like pussies.

LIP GLOSS(JEREMY WORD REMIX): LIL MAMA

People in Victoria hate me, but one time I played a rave  (Thank You Ivan and Philthy) and they loved me........for about 3 minutes. It was when I played this track. Its a white label I picked up in Seattle. This sound is kinda outta date but its still a banger......

8 VOLT(808 BEATAPELLA MIX): DJ BATTERY BRAIN

Okay kids, here is a special and rare treat. When I first started listening to New Orleans Bounce (Thanks to the amazing compilation 'Shake, Twerk and Wobble') I learned that a lot of the songs used a sample from this very track which is kinda cool cuz Battery Brain samples about a million different folks on this track including Kurtis Blow, George Clinton and Public Enemy. There are 4 versions on the vinyl but I'm givin you the most bare bones one. Now go home and loop this and make your own bounce track. Drop and give me 50.

HARDER:LADY SAW

Lady Saw is dirty. I swear she says "Bum Shotty makes me ploppy" in this song. But what do I know. Its from the 'X-Rated' riddim album.

HIT DA PUSSY: STIK E AND DA HOODS

This is like a Weird Al style version of Blackstreet. Its so good I didn't even wanna share it. The best part is when he says that he's wearin a thong too. "Balls just swingin...." So gross it's awesome.

BOOK OF THE WEEK: WHEN THE THRILL IS GONE by Walter Mosley

“One thing I had learned in fifty-three hard years of living is that there’s a different kind of death waiting for each and every one of us - each and every day of our lives. There’s drunk drivers behind the wheels of cars, subways, trains, planes, and boats; there’s banana peels, diseases and the cockeyed medicines that supposedly cure them; you got airborne viruses, indestructible microbes in the food you eat, jealous husbands and wives, and just plain bad luck.”
I'm actually recommending all the books in this series, which is about a hard boiled New York City detective named Leonid McGill. He's a black ex-boxer and former fixer for the mob. He  has some family problems, including a cheating wife and a few illegitimate children. Hated by the cops and his landlords-always just one step ahead of death. Mosley is one of the greatest authors of all time. Check out his novel 'Fortunate Son', The Easy Rollins series, or the Socrates Fortlow series....if you're not a great reader check out his kids book  '47' about an alien that comes to earth to free slaves.

THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG: BLADERUNNERS

This is a remix of PILs "This is not a Love Song". I love the Bladerunners remixes. They have done Madonna, Ludacris, Stardust and others and somehow they make them sound the same. On a side note, mp3s will be 320 from now on cuz I figured how to work Itunes. If ever you want a AIF version of something I've posted please get at me and I can send it.

IF I COULD (REMIX): STARS AS EYES vs DWANE SODABERK

There isn't really any info on this record. Its a compilation I got in Seattle called 'PLANET OF THE FIGHT CLUB' on Tigerbeat6 Records. It also has some Kid 606
and Drop The Lime on there. I think this was the best track though.
