THE BIRDS ARE DYING: PAUL LEARY

This is the best track off one of the worst solo outings of all time. Of course, that didn't stop me from playing the shit out of it. Paul Leary was the amazing tweaked out guitarist of the BUTTHOLE SURFERS but he didn't record this gem until Gibby was bloated and shooting dope and the band had discovered MIDI. There are some worthy moments though and this is one of them.....

A BOY AND HIS DOG

I know I've been suggesting spaghetti westerns but this movie kinda falls in to that genre in a way. Except it's an after the fall movie from the 80's starring Don Johnson as a young man. I like this movie almost as much as Mad Max. It can be a bit brutal watching Don yell at the poor dog, cuz you know the dog isn't acting. But great art requires some animal abuse. Check out this guys podcast for a free download. He's also got some other good stuff. http://www.cultofuhf.com/

BAILE FUNK MASTERS: SANDRINHO

This is a great series. I bought them all. You should too. Check out the website for Man Recordings.http://www.manrecordings.com/ Funk Carioca, Prohibido, Baile, whatever you want to call it, is still going strong. I feel like snorting a eight ball in one fat line, shooting off a gold plated AK and bouncing on a fat donk before stomping a motherfucker in the corridor when I hear it.....

3 GREAT HIP HOP RECORDS

SLICK RICK: THE ART OF STORYTELLING
A few years after his release from prison Slick Rick dropped this gem. Almost perfect from start to finish, he covers every style, every topic, collaborates with some of the best rappers and producers in the game,  One of the few albums I can listen start to finish. Every song still sounds timeless, I play 'MEMORIES' almost every party I play. Right out the gate he just starts flowing on 'em:
"Hoes ass kiss cause I'm like Jason, vision
Releasin' me a basket case from prison - Pissed
Blood feenin', the villain like 'Wassup ya'll'
Deep down schemin' how to kill 'em
Misleadin' a bit, although proceedin' a hit
I made 'em feel I'd never jeopardise my freedom for shit

Played the empty headed part,
Though the moment they dreaded start, neat
Back of the head and took the credit card
Seen properly decease,
Made it look like an everyday robbery to police
And I's out
Police believed a thief pop for sureity, a jerky
Alert the rest to beef up security
And not to get flashy, although another blast occurred
Another brother deservin' to get massacred
Pleasure in poppin' that flea
Should a heard mister tough guy coppin' mad pleas
Not insane, nor am I biased
Though feels good to watch a motherfucker die before
my fly ass
Ain't nuttin' to blast, fuck it
Then I put some crack vials in the ass pocket and was off
Police said a thug awaited, since I didn't leave no evidence
A drug related incident"

PRINCE PAUL: A PRINCE AMONG THIEVES
http://www.mediafire.com/?vh3yyav0tmu
Not the first rap opera, but by far the best. Epic. A simple story: boy still lives at home, needs money for a demo tape cuz he has a meeting with RZA. His job at the chicken shack ain't cuttin it, so his hustler buddy hooks him up with a job slanging yay on the corner.
Lots of guest appearances including heavy hitters like Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Chubb Rock, Sadat X, and Everlast. The lead is played by relative unknown Breezely Bruin (MC Breeze of Juggaknotz) who is a very talented wordsmith with quite the lyrical flow. His nemesis is played by Big Sha.....
This is worth seeking out on vinyl, nice packaging and artwork. It's a joy to flip each side over to get to the finale, and then start all over again.

BUSHWICK BILL: LITTLE BIG MAN
I love Geto Boys, but most of all I love Bushwick. He did a rap opera too, but before that was his first solo outing, LITTLE BIG MAN. He tells the story of how his eye got shot out, tells everyone to fuck off for calling him short and talks about killing motherfuckers and bangin' ho's. What could be better. The samples used are classic, the lyrics are hype, the skits are hilarious.
"Back to Juanita, the peter eater
This bitch swallowed my sperm by the 2-liter
She said that my dick tasted much sweeter yeah
Baby who knows her pose, bend over touch your toes
And close your mouth fore a minute
Before I end up stickin my dick in it
And you can't handle that, it's too massive
Girl I fuck around and block your wind passage
Bang bang, I was doin my thang
And the way I swang that bitch couldn't hang
I, made the bitch do, yoga
I, rocked the boat, tipped the boat over
Fired up a cig, grabbed the gin, took a swig
Stuck my dick in, and I dug, can you dig?
I was runnin through that ass like an 18-wheeler rig
I let them hoes know they don't come too big, check it"

BOOK OF THE WEEK: NICO-SONGS THEY NEVER PLAY ON THE RADIO by James Young

I once knew this junkie chick who was a dominatrix. At first, hanging out with her was exotic and interesting. She'd tell stories about nailing  a dudes dick to a couch or making a guy shove a coffee pot up his ass and she'd be charming and lovely. Her siamese cat was named Bran Muffin, it only ate sardines. I thought I was cool when I hung around her....like she was some kinda supermodel.
Pretty quickly our relationship wasn't so glamorous. I would have to give her rides to dealers houses, lend her cash  and eventually ended up looking after her ancient and horrible cat (and footing the bills) while it shit and pissed all over everything. I think that's what knowing Nico must have been like.
This book is hilarious. I normally hate biographies but this is a worthy read. It traces the attempted comeback of Nico in the 80's. It was Written by the guy who was hired to play keyboard for the world tour. Great characters, perfect descriptions of life in the 80's and the inside stories of some of those shitty songs with Nico's harmonium....I can't believe I have all that shit on vinyl......

INSANE IN THE MEMBRAIN(Ariel Perazolli Lobotomy Remix): CYPRESS HILLS OF NY

This was a white label. I have no idea who Ariel Perrazzoli is, but i sure got a lot of mileage from this. Before I discovered B'more, I wanted to play rave music that wasn't so gay sounding, this kinda seemed like the thing. Techno with rap samples. The b-side of this had ACDC:Jailbreak remixed. If you're nice, I may share.
