LOOKIN ON DA FLOOR: DJ GODFATHER

I went all the way to Detroit to DEMF and missed DJ Godfather by a few hours. U.S. Customs were being total fuckers and held us up. Oh well, it was still an amazing time and an epic party. Musical highlites included Felix the Housecat, Justin Martin, GasLamp Killer and Beardyman but there was lots of other amazing moments too. Now my liver hurts and my brain is retarded. I like this track.

BREAD ALONE:JUNIE

When I first bought this out of a dollar bin in around 1991, I could not believe a non-retarded person could have produced this album. That's because I was very
unfunky. This album is embarassingly funky. Its almost abrasively honest in it's funkiness sometimes, sometimes it even stinks it's so funky. But like a good stinky cheese, it's worth taking the time to get to know.
Junie has been a part of the OHIO PLAYERS and PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC. I'm pretty sure he's not retarded.

MY NAME IS NOBODY

This is a hilarious but beautifully filmed parody and tribute to spaghetti westerns. Its written by Sergio Leone and directed by his old assistant. Its essentially about the end of one old gunfighters career (played by Henry Fonda) as he passes the torch to a younger guy, 'Nobody'. Its filled with tons of references to other westerns and lots of slapstick. It even reminds me of older Jackie Chan movies sometimes. Hard to find, but well worth the search.

DJ PLAN PRESENTS: WEED VS PUSSY-DEVIN THE DUDE 101

Devin the Dude is the best. How can a guy have 5 or 6 albums of material about smokin weed and gettin his dick sucked? So I did a mixtape of some of my faves. When yer done listenin' go and BUY every one of his albums (including Odd Squad and Coughee Brothers). He deserves your money, weed ain't cheap.

TEQUILA BREAKS

Ever since Dave Nada invented Moombahton, I've been diggin through my old reggaeton records. At some point I picked up something called Tequila Breaks, it had two minute reggaeton/hip hop mash-ups on side a and some horrid hi-NRG Latin shit on side b. Heres some of the hi-lites.

JIBBERISH: KRAZY B

Anybody know who Krazy B is? I have only ever seen this one E.P. which has a gotta be almost a decade old. Its on Unruly. Check out their Blog for more great B'more Club shit.http://webunruly.blogspot.com/

BOOK OF THE WEEK: A LION CALLED CHRISTIAN

By Anthony Bourke and John Rendall. This is the story behind the YouTube video of the reunion of Christian the lion and a couple of foppish hippies. Its actually pretty interesting and heartwarming. They try to justify buying a lion cub from Harrods in London in 1969 and keeping him in a store on Kings Rd.....eventually setting him free in Kenya....and when they explain it, you can't help but understand.
There are some tear jerker moments and some chuckles and it makes you wish you could have your own Lion. The only truly annoying thing is how often they mention the "YouTube Sensation"

LOCK DOWN: MIKE MUMBLES VS K. SPIN

Classic B;more Club shit. It came out on Johnny Blazes label. K Spin is currently in The YO BOYZ.

BENNY AND THE JETS: BIZ MARKIE

Remember Grand Royal before they went bankrupt releasing amazingly awful albums like "COUNTRY MIKES GREATEST HITS"? Remember Flexi Discs? If you don't, a flexi-disc was a record as thin as a piece of paper that usually came in a magazine. They were great.....this is off a flexi that came with Grand Royals magazine.
The Biz is still amazing even as a celebrity dj, reality tv star or beatboxer for kids. At Voodoofest he took away  a VIP pass from some hot girl and gave it to me cuz I was the only one dancing to his dj set. So I love him even more.

3 OF THE BEST HIP HOP ALBUMS OF ALL TIME

OL DIRTY BASTARD:NIGGA PLEASE
This album sounds like the Neptunes finished up all the beats and then they put down plastic over everything, brought in a kilo of cocaine and case of Hennessy and just locked ODB in the room. You feel like you are a part of something special when you listen to this. As great as James Brown or The Rolling Stones.
R.I.P. Russel Tyrone Jones.
"I'm immune to all viruses
I get the cocaine it cleans out my sinuses
Just for slinging *nuh* I get a quarter a mil
I'll have it raining ice drops the size of automobiles
Kill all the government microchips in my body
I'm the paranoid nigga at your party
I kill all my enemies at birth!
Shut the fuck up!
Bitch and let my slide my hands up your skirt
Nigga please!"

GETO BOYS: TIL DEATH DO US PART
I know this doesn't have their classics on here but the album as whole is super strong. 'Bring It On' has the whole Rap-A-Lot Family on there including Too Low, the Odd Squad(Devin the Dudes first group) and the Fifth ward Boys. Epic. Although Willie D had quit the group at this point, Big Mike brings a more serious gangster quality to this outing. The samples are soulful, the raps are thuggin but smooth......a more modern and mature Geto Boys emerge. I had this on cassette and played it every damn day for years. I can sing along to most of it.

"Seven years old,I'm lookin' up to the ganstas in the hood,

'cause to me and my cousins yeah they represented good,
Even when we played cops and robbers on the block,
nobody wanted to play the cop yeah,
'cause the cop was a pussy-ass bitch,
and if you played the cop, nigga you got your ass kicked!"

 KOOL KEITH: SEX STYLE
So genius. So out there. So dirty. Best rapper alive. This album changed my life.
"Your moms at my hotel, her bra is real cute, Dressed in G-strings, she's scopin me,
eatin fruit. She licked my balls, I came like Niagara Falls....."

NEAR EAST BOUNCE: JEL

http://www.mediafire.com/?dgy4noo85mcmuu5
Check this guy out. When I first heard about him someone said he had the biggest drumset in the world. Then I see him live and he's tapping away on a little sampler. Like a tiny John Bonham. You could pick up his albums at the Anticon website http://www.anticon.com/?js=yes. It's all great. He is also in Subtle and Themselves.
